Summer Flavor

During the summer take advantage of fresh markets. Add an in season fresh vegetable and fruit to every meal or as an in-between snack.

I love to sauté garlic in olive oil and throw in all the colors of the season. Colors entice the appetite for an enjoyable healthy meal.

Check out the recipe below:

Core Stability
vs
Core Strength

We all want to live a life with a balance of strength and stability. A balance that affects our body, mind and spirit. Most of us, at times, struggle with feeling imbalanced. We can have strong emotions, strong muscles, strong ideas, yet not be completely clear about how to express, maintain and, or process living a whole and healthy life.

Our bodies need to find that balance of strength and stability to function efficiently, helping to avoid injuries and chronic issues. Core Stability training is an important option for anyone who wants to learn and improve their body's overall function.

First let's look at what the Core is. The core is the muscles that comprise the trunk of your body: front and back, side to side and top to bottom. The muscles attach from the shoulder girdle to the pelvic girdle. They stabilize the trunk so that your limbs can move freely, for functional movement in everyday activities. Your daily activities could include, walking up stairs, lifting groceries or picking up toys off the floor.

Stabilization of the core is different than strength. Strength is the ability to produce force throughout a given movement. An example would be, a sit up. Stability is the ability to resist unwanted movement. All the muscles of the core tighten statically to resist unwanted motion. Stabilizing the core can help prevent unnecessary injuries when moving through your day

The goal should be, to become stabile, whether you're a competitive athlete or a mom of small children. Once your core is stabile, your whole body will feel stronger from the inside out.
